Time Period:Late Cretaceous Period (66-100.5 Million Years Ago)
Origin: Khouribga, Morocco
Mosasaur was a giant meat-eating marine reptile (not a dinosaur) that lived about 64-100 million years ago. It was up to 33 feet long. It had four paddle-like limbs on a long, streamlined body and a long, powerful tail. The large head had huge jaws (up to 4.5 feet) with many teeth. A loosely hinged lower jaw allowed the mouth to open about 3 feet, to swallow huge prey, like a snake. They hunted fish, turtles, mollusks, and shellfish.
Mosasaur jaw is reconstructed, however all teeth are genuine mosasaur fossils!
